GATE 2027 Exam Pattern
The brochure states that GATE 2027 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) in English, with a 3-hour duration. It lists 30 test papers and three question types: MCQ, MSQ and NAT. For the standard papers listed in the brochure, the paper contains 10 General Aptitude questions plus 55 subject questions, for 65 questions in total and 100 marks.
Marking scheme
Questions carry 1 or 2 marks. The brochure states that wrong MCQ answers attract negative marking: 1/3 mark for a 1-mark MCQ and 2/3 mark for a 2-mark MCQ. It states there is no negative marking for wrong MSQ and NAT answers.
GATE 2027 Eligibility
The brochure states that a candidate currently studying in the third or higher year of an eligible undergraduate degree, or a candidate who has already completed an eligible degree, can appear. It also gives programme-specific rules for B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm., B.Arch., B.Sc. (Research)/B.S., Pharm.D., M.B.B.S./B.D.S./B.V.Sc., M.Sc./M.A./M.C.A., integrated degrees, B.Sc./B.A./B.Com., recognised professional-society qualifications and B.Sc. Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry.
It also states that there is no age limit for appearing in GATE 2027.
GATE 2027 Test Papers
The Information Brochure lists 30 test papers and introduces Robotics and Automation (RA) for GATE 2027. Textile Engineering and Fibre Science is included as XE9 in the Engineering Sciences sectional paper. The brochure also records code changes for the sectional papers XE, XH and XL.

GATE 2027 Two-Paper Option

Opportunities with a GATE Qualification
The brochure explains that GATE qualification can be used in admission processes for relevant postgraduate and doctoral programmes, including situations involving possible scholarship/assistantship. It also notes that several PSUs have used GATE scores for recruitment and that some government technical posts have used GATE scores.
